Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is an aerosol-generating procedure and since SARS-CoV-2 can be transmitted through aerosols it is considered as a risk therapy option for the medical professionals working in the field.

Although there have not been exact values of the liquid dispersal when using NIV, it is still generally suggested that NIV should be avoided for Covid-19 patients as long as there are other options available.
